How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs Without a Professional

Bed Bugs can find their way into your home no matter how clean you try to keep it. They are more than a nuisance. Bed Bugs feed off of the blood of their human host and cause small, red itchy, bumps. Scratching at a Bed Bug bite can cause an infection. Here is a way to get rid of bed bugs without the exterminator if your infestation isn't overwhelming

1.Wash all of your bedding including pillows and throw in the dryer until completely dry. Bed bugs can't live in the heat of the dryer for more than about 20 minutes.

2. Wash all of your clothing and dry in the dryer.

3.If you see bed bugs on your mattress use duct tape to lift them off of your mattress, pillows, clothes or floor. Do not vacuum because they will just crawl back out of your vacuum and go right back to their food source. (you)

4.Lift your mattress and put 8 to 10 dryer sheets between your box spring and mattress. Put 8 to 10 dryer sheets on the surface of your mattress before you put your sheets on. Place 1 to 2 dryer sheets inside your pillowcases. Put dryer sheets in your clothes and linen closets. Bed Bugs are repelled by scented dryer sheets.

5. Wrap the legs and bed rails of your bed with duct tape. Place the duct tape so the sticky side is out.

6. Repeat these steps anywhere in your house that has a fabric home for Bed Bugs such as upholstered sofas and chairs.
